Nigeria, the giant of Africa, a country with 445 ethnic groups, with tremendous potentials, but also big problems, invites us to discover the magic, culture and its civilization. The festival is part of the 53rd Anniversary of Independence. At a time particularly appropriate and charged after the recent racist events, the 1st Nigerian festival takes place in collaboration with the City of Athens as a bridge of friendship for the other face of the Nigerian community in Greece.
In the festival we will enjoy Keziah Jones, the National Troupe of Nigeria with a team of 19 artists and Adedeji Adetayo with his 11-member band. The Greek artist MC Yinca of Nigerian origin will participate appearing with them on stage. A group of children living in Greece, will dance traditional dances dressed in striking costumes from different regions of Nigeria.
The festival will introduce to us beyond music and dance, gastronomy. The Women's Club will prepare homemade food using traditional recipes of Nigeria, while girls dressed in traditional costumes will serve the audience throughout the course of the festival.
