Luz Casal

Luz Casal introduced herself in Greek in her concert at the Athens Concert Hall in spring and impressed many people in the film of Pedro Almodovar “High heels” with her interpretation of the songs “Piensa en mi” and “Un ano de amor”.

Her career began in 1982, when she released her first album with her name as the title. Since then she experiments, adopts elements of the music of Latin America, rock, pop and integrates same in her songs, while she is characterized by the tone of her own country, Spain. She draws inspiration from life itself and with her voice she expresses all her feelings. She has sung her own compositions, as well as others’ with great success and has been accredited the Goya’s prize.

“Good afternoon. I am deeply touched to be here with you in this magnificent environment. This theatre of your ancestors filled me with joy. I will try to give you the best of myself” she tells us in Greek.

The concert has started while the audience that fills inextricably the stadium applauds her. Luz sings from her heart and the stage is filled with colors from the illuminations. From old favorite interpretations she passes to her last album, to be released on 12th October, as she says, entitled “La Pasion” and then to songs from previous decades, to return to the known interpretations. Piano, guitars, violins, viola, cello, percussion, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, bass fiddle, drums. On the stage thirteen musicians play with her, while songs inspired by dreams of the first days of her chemotherapy, the need for happiness, the difficulties, are conveyed with the unparalleled technical and theatrical performance of Luz Casal. Warmth, passion, pain that are expressed fill the atmosphere and send away our own problems. You are indifferent for the form, you stop analyzing and you feel.

“I would like to devote to someone who would like to be this evening with us, but for health problems will hear us from his home that is very close. Mikis Theodorakis.” she tells us in Greek, when she comes back on stage after the enthusiastic applause to sing again and closes the concert with the presentation of the musicians.
