Two leading female voices of contemporary music in a creative meeting spread over a wide musical spectrum.
Maria Joao who is called “Vocal Queen of Portugal”, with appearances in major Concert Halls worldwide comes from a “Portugal- African” heritage. In her musical course she always watched every development of contemporary jazz. Notable are the duets with the Japanese pianist of free jazz Aki Takase in the 80's and her collaborations with J. Zawinul, Hermeto Pascoal, R. Towner, as well as with the distinguished pianist Mario Laginha with whom she had great successes. Whenever she appeared in our country she impressed the Greek audience. In her concerts she presents the “Adventures of Bees” with Joao Farinha and Andre Nascimento.
Savina Yannatou one of the distinguished voices of our country has already done a long ride in the song, passing from the artistic Greek to Renaissance, medieval, reaching up to the traditional. Since the beginning experimentation and the avand-garde of music determine her work. She has presented many albums leading to her long term colaboration with ECM and has been credited with many tours and concerts which always had special suggestions. In her performances with the painist Eugenia Karlafti she approaches well known music in a completely different improvising way.
These two voices of Joao and Yannatou and their musians meet together at the stage of Half Note for the first time and unite their experiences on a promising musical feast ...
