Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar has in her blood innovation and experimentation, while her deep-seated understanding of Indian classical form plays a key role in her work. She has presented several solo albums from her debut “Anoushka” in 1998 until the last  “Traveller”.

“It was a love of the music that inspired me to make this flamenco album and bring together these two traditions and the starting point they share: a kind of uninhibited musicality in expression whether it's a solo voice, a sitar, or a guitar” she says for her latest work.

She studied with her father from the age of nine, which made her keep expanding continuously the frontiers of her searches. Unlike her half sister Norah Jones, she has connected her musical life  with her father's and remains his most dedicated fan. She has performed  his concerts for sitar with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta,  BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra,  Mstislav Rostropovich.

From the age of fourteen she tours in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America at the beginning alone with her sitar and since 2007 with her band The Anoushka Shankar Project, linking the sounds of India with world music. Today in her 30s she has already shared the stage with Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock, Elton John,  Madonna, Nina Simone, Sting, James Taylor and Jethro Tull.

With her band The Anoushka Shankar Project, the daughter and disciple of legendary Ravi Shankar will present to the public of Megaron, a dialogue between the music of India and flamenco with herself playing sitar and a group of  distinguished artists.
