Cristina Vilallonga sealed the music of Gotan Project with her voice in their debut “La Revancha del Tango” as well as in three other albums, the last titled “Tango 3.0” of 2010. With her overwhelming presence she is now the continuity of the tango tradition, reflected perfectly and in her personal albums with her band Tango Quartet.
In 2010 she released her third solo album titled “Luna Borracha”. The repertoire is based on classic tango, but interpreted in a totally personal style, as well as on her own compositions. She gives an astonishingly fresh picture of Argentinian poetic sounds and words that are sealed by legends like Homero Manzi, Anibal Troilo, José Dames, Astor Piazzola and J.L. Borges, blending the melodic essence of tango sounds and rhythms with jazz and classical music.
Vilallonga has presented her music at various festivals around the world, including our country as in “World Musicians” in Preveza in 2005 and recently in Patras. In the group participates the ex-bandoneon musician of Gotan Project, the excellent Victor Villena.
To paraphrase the comments of international press for Cristina Villalonga and her tango, she is “a pearl of inconceivable dimensions, a leopard among cats ...”
