Katerina Polemi

Singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist, graduate of Berklee College of Music, was born in London and grew up between Greece and Brazil. She has loved bossa nova and old Greek music from her childhood, as well as melodies and harmonies of jazz.

She was inspired by artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Thelonious Monk, Abbey Lincoln and Rachelle Ferrell.

Her first solo album "Spread the Music, not the Name" was released in 2011 and includes her own compositions. The second one "Evridiki" with music written for the play of the same title, directed by Dimitris Tarloou, was presented in 2012. Her latest work is the soundtrack of the film "Little England" by Pantelis Voulgaris.

Besides concerts Katerina Polemi wrote music for the play "The Trojan War" directed by Sophia Spyratou and "Blasted” of Sarah Kane directed by Dimitris Tarloou. She also writes music for the play "Great Chimera" of Karagatsis directed by Dimitris Tarloou.

"True music and anything true stems from nothing = everything which is converted to something. This happens only when you approach the subject from the purest and most honest part of you. This is how I seek to approach it." she says.
