Peculiar and unique artist who remains absolutely faithful to the morphology of tango, but enriches his program with elements of a unique theatricality.
Daniel Melingo has a rich artistic background, starting from the rock scene and ending to Argentine tango.
Born in 1957 he began playing music when he was very young under the guidance of his stepfather Edmundo Rivero.
He started playing next to legendary Brazilian Milton Nascimento. In early 80's, while the country was under military dictatorship, Melingo was an active member of the independent theater scene in Buenos Aires. When the limitations of cultural activities were relaxed after the Falklands war, he participated in many musical and artistic projects. Typical examples are the rock opera version of "Dr. Moreau's Trials" of Victor Kesselman and his collaboration with Los Twist.
He played saxophone in the reunion of Abuelos de la Nada, while he was named by Andres Calamaro as the person, who established the musical direction of the band. He moved to Spain and formed Lions in Love. Returning to Argentina he released a special album based on the well known Argentinian comic "El Eternauta".
Daniel Melingo managed to create a myth around his name and British press characterized him as "the man who’s making tango seriously cool".
