Cassandra Wilson

"Α singer blessed with an unmistakable timbre and attack who has expanded the playing field" Gary Giddins, award-winning author, critic, essayist, producer.

American jazz musician, vocalist, songwriter and producer, a leading figure of her generation who incorporates in a unique way jazz, blues, country and folk. She was born in Jackson in Mississippi. In early 80's when she moved to New York where she met saxophonist Steve Coleman and became one of the founding members of the M-Base Collective.

In 1992 she recorded the decisive for her career album "Blue Light 'Til Dawn" with a special prospective and a unique way of approach of her repertoire.

Cassandra Wilson continues to hold steady our interest with excellent albums. She has won two Grammys, the Django D'Or, the Edison Music Award and many other distinctions. She collaborated with Wynton Marsalis in "Blood on the Fields", the first jazz work to receive a Pulitzer Prize.
