A band formed in early 2011, which counts almost three years of life. Their name is taken from the first feature film by Sylvain Chomet, Les Triplettes de Belleville, "The Triplets of Belleville".
The dark cabaret atmosphere of the interwar period, the melancholic and nostalgic trend and the subtle touches of humor accompany their music. Their influences range from jazz and blues, swing, music for the theater and every form of modern approach to all of the above. Favorite artists are Django Reinhardt, Muddy Waters, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Tom Waits, Tiger Lillies, Jill Tracy and others.
They have appeared in many scenes and places within and outside Athens such as Faust, Half Note, Gazarte, Southern Cross, Cabaret Voltaire, Dizzy Miles, Darling, Piquet, After Dark etc. Their first appearance was on the project RETROPOLIS 1 at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, they opened last year, together with other bands, the concert of Pupini Sisters at Gagarin 205, they participated in Little Paris festival of Athens and in Colors Festival. We saw them twice at the festival "Days of Rethymno" in Crete and elsewhere in Greece.
Belleville begin their journey with their own compositions and adaptations of songs of favorite artists in their own way and sound. Believing that in accordance with the current musical reality, nothing could be more contemporary than retro, they give a rendezvous with the street gangs of Mafia, the elegant style and most of all with the music that plays the role of the "host" of crime. They expect us with cigarettes stuck in our mouth... The rest on stage!
