Pablo Held grew up in a musical family in Hagen, Germany and as a child he was exposed to music from various backgrounds. Aged 4 he started playing drums, at 10 he moved on to the piano and at 18 he attended the Conservatory of Music and Dance in Cologne. In 2006 he won the prize Westfalen Jazz, in 2011 the Jazz Westdeutche Rundfunk in the improvisation category and became known as a pianist prodigy in Germany.
He formed his own trio after his personal lonely course in the European jazz scene and they quickly found a common language and musical affinities, that made the three musicians to stand out, to appear in large musical scenes, in established jazz venues and major festivals in Europe and South America. In their discography they already have four CDs, a very dense program for appearances and contracts for workshops in music colleges in Weimar, Cologne, Würzburg and Mannheim.
Pablo Held Jazz Trio comes to Megaron Athens Concert Hall for a performance under the Rising Stars’ schedule made with the support of the “Culture” program of the European Union. It is an initiative of the European Concert Hall Organization (ECHO), a network of international partnerships between European music halls, dedicated to promoting cultural exchanges, promotion and dissemination of artistic creation and promotion of emerging young performers and small ensembles from Europe and USA. Every year six artists with outstanding performance are selected, who as Rising Stars give concerts in Concert Halls members of ECHO.
