He is the youngest son of the Marsalis family. A famous name if you think of the father pianist and professor Ellis Marsalis and continue with the remaining brothers, Branford, Wynton and Delfeayo.
He started as a kid with the drums. He began early to develop a particular style that he developed with his studies in classical percussion. His professional career was not only in straight ahead jazz, but also in funk, fusion, Latin, ethnic music etc.
Jason Marsalis has participated in Los Hombres Calientes group, but he plays with the great pianist Marcus Roberts, his brothers and other contemporary jazz musicians and since 2009 he plays vibraphone.
