“Bass Player” magazine puts Avishai Cohen among the most influential bassists in Jazz in the twentieth century.
The Israeli bassist started his career with a series of appearances at music venues and Jazz bars of New York. Someday he received from the pianist Chick Corea, the phone call that gave him his first record deal. In 1996 he became a founding member of his sextet and with it he released his first four albums. He also collaborated with artists such as Alicia Keys, Bobby McFerrin, Roy Hargrove, Herbie Hancock and the London and Israel Philharmonic Orchestras.
His collaboration with Chick Corea continued until 2003, when Avishai decided to start his own record label and started appearing with Mark Guiliana and Shai Maestro on a personal project named Avishai Cohen trio.
