They call him “Tom Waits of Italy”, “Italy’s greatest secret”, “its most intriguing musical traveler”. Special, talented and unpredictable, songwriter and performer Vinicio Capossela was born in Germany in 1965 by Italian parents, but at an early age he returned to their homeland. His first compositions were influenced by the different musical sounds with which he grew up, such as the Italian tradition, Louis Prima, Renato Carosone, elements from American music, Tom Waits, as well as Jack Kerouac and Charles Bukowski.
In his concerts he combines elements of rock and theatrical interpretation. His career has been active for about 23 years and his music surpasses geographical boundaries. He has flirted with Italian folk music, American folk , European burlesque, Argentine tango, morna and recently rebetiko .
Rebetiko Gymnastas” of Capossela, who declares himself “Greek” and the documentary “Indebito” that tells the Greek news, is a salute to Greece .
In his concert in Athens will be leading an Italian- Greek band, with musicians such as Manolis Pappos, who participated in the recording of the album “Rebetiko Gymnastas”, which was recorded analog at the Sierra Studios in Athens.
