Joshua Redman Quartet

Son of saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedroff, was born in Berkeley, California and began his musical studies in his town, without however dealing with tenor saxophone until he was aged 10. In 1986 he graduated from high school and later from Harvard and was accepted to Yale Law School. He did not however make a career in these areas, but in music . A few months later he won the first prize in the Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition.

He released his first album in 1993 and before the end of the year the second one “Wish” with the participations of Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins.

Up to now he has collaborated with music legends such as Ray Brown, Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette, Herbie Hancock, Roy Haynes, Milt Jackson, Elvin Jones, Quincy Jones, BB King, The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Pat Metheny, cellist Yo Yo Ma, conductor Simon Rattle, even with the Rolling Stones.
