Boo Boo Davis

Boo Boo Davis belongs to the last generations of musicians that write and play the blues, based on first hand experience of a hard everyday life in the Mississippi Delta. He was born in Drew in 1943, in the heart of Delta, in the South with rich cotton land.

Son of a musician who played with John Lee Hooker, Elmore James and Robert Pete Williams remembers these legendary performers rehearsing in the living room of his house. With these images, at the age of five, Boo Boo Davis was playing the harmonica and singing in church. By thirteen he was playing guitar and by eighteen he was playing out with his brothers and father under the name of the band The Lard Can Band.

He later moved with his brothers to St. Louis during the heyday of Ike Turner, Chuck Berry, Albert King and others. He was however always a southerner in heart and his habits remained humble and simple. During his childhood his family did not have what it takes to go to school, so he never learned to read and write. However this did not prevent him in his career. The blues and his guiding spirit (that he calls Dave ...) helped him to survive.

His first European tour took place in 2000 and since then he is touring Europe twice a year on average. At the end of one of these tours Boo Boo Davis decided to leave out the bass from the band and tour as a trio, with drums, guitar and him on harmonica and vocals. He has recorded several interesting albums such as “Undercover Blues”, “Ain't Gotta Dime”, “Name Of The Game” and others.
