Patricia Kaas

Kaas Chante Piaf

“Singing is a way of escaping. It's another world. I'm no longer on earth.” Words of Edith Piaf.

Will we follow her footsteps in the show dedicated to her on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her death? Only a few can lure us to the path of the little sparrow who sang aches and pains over the roofs.

“A tribute to an artist of a lifetime I always admired, the soundtrack to a passionate life.” says Patricia Kaas for the show “Kaas Chante Piaf”.

“To find my place and be at the same time truthful to myself and the audience was not easy, I  have to admit. There are new interpretations of songs that you know and love, but also some songs which are not on the world’s playlists.”

She collaborated with film music composer Abel Korzeniowski, who gave his own theatrical aspect and “Kaas Chante Piaf” followed the release of the album with the same title. It has been presented in theaters such as Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall and Operetta Theatre Moscow.

“This production should be inextricably tied to her unparallel talent, of course, but more than that to an extraordinary life filled with agony, endless joy and, finally, with an undying passion for life and for love. One thing was certain: this project had to be something much more than a publicly known song collection of Edith Piaf” admits the singer.

But those who love Edith Piaf, should be prepared, because Patricia Kaas is very different from her who “every time she sang, you thought she cut her heart out for the last time.” as Jean Cocteau said.
