Antoine Roney was born in Philadelphia in 1963 and is the brother of trumpeter Wallace Roney. He started with clarinet, but eventually studied tenor and soprano saxophone. He graduated from “Duke Ellington School of the Arts” and continued in “Hartt School of Music” and University of Hartford next to Jackie McLean. He worked with him and with musicians such as Clifford Jordan, Donald Byrd, Ravi Coltrane, Jesse Davis, Rashied Ali, Elvin Jones, Chick Corea.
In 1992 he released his first album, “The Traveller” and in 1995 the “Whilrling”. Other personal albums followed and participations in projects, such as “Miles Davis tribute project” with Cindy Blackman.
Saxophonist Antoine Roney comes for the fourth time in Greece. It is the first however with his trio and they bring a special guest, his 8 years old son, a child prodigy, Kojo Odu Roney on drums.
