Before the release of her third solo album Monika, a representative of the English speaking stage in our country, appears in performances titled Primal, to give us a taste of her new work, but singing also old hits such as “Over the hill”, “Yes, I do”, “Babe” and others.
She is accompanied besides her band, by strings, horns and a big choir, while the optical and visual stigma of the show is given by the lighting designer George Tellos and Watergun, a collective from London and Madrid that signs the specifically designed for the performance / concert video art.
With the light as catalyst, as we read on the site of the Onassis Cultural Centre, Monika in her most personal work explores the interplay of overt and covert aspects of human existence.
Inspired by the eternal evolution of nature which has proven that the illuminated does not mean that it prevails, she is wondering : what ultimately becomes to our charismatic dark side? And how we celebrate?
