Yoel Soto was born in Havana in 1977. At the age of 18 he participated in the Festival Jazz Plaza de La Habana playing electric bass with Bobby Carcassés and in 1996 he obtained his diploma at the National School of Art.
The same year he went to Italy where he stayed for eight years. He took part in various festivals like Umbria Jazz (1997), San Remo (1998) and others and shared the same stage with some of the most important artists of Latin music, such as Celia Cruz, Oscar D’ Leon, Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Eddie Palmieri.
In the past years he lives in Athens and directs the Latin All Stars Salsa Orchestra, which has collaborated with musicians of international reputation. Among them are Alfredo de la Fe, Jimmy Bosch, Orlando Watussi, Luisito Rosario, Larry Harlow and singers of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Ray de la Paz, Herman Olivera, Frankie Vazquez, Marco Bermudez.
Since 2007 he colaborates with the famous saxophonist Chico Freeman and participates in the new production of “Guataca”. His first solo album is titled “Waking Up” and was recorded in Turin.
