The dark atmosphere of cabaret of the interwar period, the melancholic and nostalgic mood and a touch of humor accompany aesthetically the musical journey of Belleville.
Their influences range from jazz, blues, swing, music for the theater and they adapt favorite artists' songs in their own unique way and sound. They believe that under the current music reality, nothing could be more modern than retro ...
They were formed in early 2011.Their inspiration was the first feature film by Sylvain Chomet “les Triplettes de Belleville”. In March 2011 they began their first appearances live in Booze, followed by their participation in the project Retropolis with the adaption of the song “Kati me trava konta sou” of Sougioul- Gaitanou interpreted by Sofia Vembo and then two other appearances in Amnesia and Dizzy Miles.
After certain changes in their composition in the same summer, Belleville continue their live performances with renewed mood, songs and visual material ... They expect you to revive the days when the feathers, pearls, garters and cigarettes stuck in the mouth were lifestyle and night had another color ..
