Louisiana Red is without doubt one of the most important figures of the blues, one of the last original legendary bluesmen. Each year he tours constantly from continent to continent, singing his own experiences and recording albums of high quality. It is not strange that both the electric album “Back to the black bayou”, and the acoustic one “You got to move” with the pianist David Maxwell, have been designated by the Blues Foundation as the best of 2010 in their respective categories.
His musical activity begins in early 40’s, when as a kid he plays harmonica and guitar on the streets for a pittance. In 1948 he meets Muddy Waters, who is captivated by the headstrong twelve years old orphan and teaches him everything he knows, treating him as his spiritual child. Today Louisiana Red is the only blues musician who plays slide, like Muddy. In the 50’s he starts to record under the pseudonym Crying Red or Playboy Fuller. Then he adopts the Louisiana Red, either because of his Red Indian origin, or because of his socialist ideology and action in the movement of Black Muslims and the Rev. Ike, in the early 60's. Louisiana Red is a unique friend to those who knew him closely – and there are many in Greece - and a unique and great artist.
Together with him at Half Note the Blues Wire. Beginning their journey at the blues in 1983, Blues Wire are already marching in their third decade, which is very rare for a Greek band, with countless concerts in Greece and abroad, nine albums in their discography and the title of one of the best blues bands in Europe.
