“Destroy roofs, walls, see in all the rooms at once.”
“Notes on Vision”
Jim Morrison. The Poet who balanced at the edge of reality. He rejected any form of authenticity, looking for the secrets of truth and innovation. The singer, with the leather pants and a strong sensuality who enjoyed stretching to the limits. “Lizard King” or a “genius with a soul of a clown”, as Oliver Stone called him at the movie “The Doors”.
Born December 8th, 1943, he created the legendary Doors along with Ray Manzarek Keyboards, Robby Krieger in guitar, and John Densmore in drums. From the beginning of their career, they had devoted fans. Their songs, sad and angry, like “The End”, “Light my Fire”, “ Riders on the Storm”, and others. In 1969 Jim Morrison presented his poem collections “The Lords/ Notes on Vision” and “ The New Creatures”. Later more works were published. Since then his work inspired numerous musicians and poets. He died in Paris, July 3rd, 1971.
In memory of his death, 40 years ago, a tribute to Jim Morrison and the Doors takes place from the Peace Frog and Tony Fernandez. The show is based on Doors’ original work, video clips and photos from the Group’s history, as well as the life of the legendary Jim Morrison.
The Peace Frog took their name from the Doors’ song. Owen Goldman plays the drums (he actually replaced John Densmore at the Doors), Alex Rice keyboards, Sean Colligan guitar and Tony Fernandez vocals. The reviews of this performance are good. The group celebrated this year thirteen years of existence with a worldwide tour. They are actually quite successful in remaking the magic and the intense feelings the legendary Doors created on stage.
