Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel

“I turn to the newspaper after endless hours of waiting in courts and there was really nothing that could be news. I told them. Slowly but because they couldn’t close the page, they asked me to fill the gap by writing about the case of a beggarly grandmother who stole a can of beans. I refused. And I left the job.”

Words by Steve Harley from an older concert in the Rodon.

His career in the music field started from small folk clubs. Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel presented their first album “The Human Menagerie” in 1973 with songs like “Hideaway”, the “Loretta's Tale”, the amazing “Sebastian” which marked a whole era. The “Sebastian” was sung also in Greek with great success by Vassilis Papakonstantinou in free translation of the lyrics by Sakis Bulas.

This was followed by albums such as “The Psychomodo” in 1974 in collaboration with Alan Parsons in the production and the song “Mr. Soft” or the “The Best Years of Our Lives” in 1975. This collection has one of the biggest successes the “Make me Smile”, which was used both in the film industry as well as in advertising.

Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel will be in our country for a concert on April 8, giving their own messages across and presenting known and loved songs.
