One of the major acid jazz collectives in New York, the Brooklyn Funk Essentials excelled during the nineties as they approached jazz and funk with great freshness.
The first big hit was the well-known trance track of Pharoah Sanders “The Creator Has A Master Plan”, in 1994, through the excellent album “Cool and Steady and Easy”. Brooklyn Funk Essentials continued their upward trajectory in Istanbul by another hit with the album “In The Buzz Bag”, which involved their unique collaboration with the gypsy orchestra Laco Tayfa. The band creates a wonderful blend of funk, latin, reggae, jazz, house, rap, electro, dub, etc. reflected in the “Make Them Like It” in 2000.
The next year, the band stops performing and dissolves. In 2006 is back in force with dynamic and new live performances on all continents. With the album “Watcha Playin” in 2008, their reputation is renewed and become again the first name to the dance floors and the clubs of Europe.
The incredible group prepares and will present to the club the material of their new album which will be released soon. We wait....
