They started out in Paris and soon became known beyond the borders of their country. Mark Collin and Oliver Libaux, two of the most versatile musical producers of the French scene over the last twelve years, created “Nouvelle Vague” aiming to honor their adolescent musical experiences.
They presented songs by Joy Division, Clash, Dead Kennedys, XTC, Cure, Depeche Mode and others with plain, acoustic orchestration that refer to bossa nova, jazz of the 50’s and pop of the 60’s. They have described their sound as the marriage of bossa nova and new wave… Eight female singers with special voices who had not heard the original versions of the songs and gave their own interpretations, contributed to the final result.
The past few years Nouvelle Vague have toured around the world (from Scandinavia to Israel and from Turkey to Mexico), while they have appeared together with Dead Can Dance in Hollywood Bowl of Los Angeles. Within a short period of time they managed to win audiences in large festivals (Big Chill, Primavera, Glastonbury, Overground) as well as in small clubs (Jazz Café, Blue Note).
After their successful appearance in Athens last December, the Parisian band returns to the Greek capital, this time for a concert in “Technopolis”.
Guest is Olga Kouklaki.
