Great singer, songwriter and composer, the rapidly rising Gizelle Smith was born and raised in Manchester, but with cultural references that relate to African American ancestry and the sound of Motown (because of her father) in her blood.
With her current base in London she makes hits such as the “Working Woman”, which stood out in clubs and Djs in the lists of funk and soul from the first night it was played. Her recent album, “This is Gizelle Smith and the Mighty Mocambos”, notes a similar success despite the widespread crisis of the music industry and it is a common belief that this is a small diamond. It is signed by the famous producer Kenny Dope (Master at Work, Bucketheads).
With this success she was called “the golden girl of funk” and Gizelle’s appearances in Europe and America were increased, while her full groove shows are breathtaking with their positive energy. She has already released her second hit single, the “June” and she seems to conquer all allocated free territory of European clubland. In a style nominated by clichés and solutions of the past like the classic soul jazz, Gizelle Smith shows that with her music she takes us somewhere else. It is a musical proposal full of freshness…
