Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw & Madeline Bell

Tribute to Ray Charles

The Jazz Orchestra of the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam comes to Greece to present a tribute “to the man that pulled down with so much ease the walls between musical genres”, as Quincy Jones has said. The legendary Ray Charles.

“I was born with music inside me. This is the only explanation I can give …” Ray Charles, the genius composer who combined all musical genres, jazz, gospel, blues, rock, rhythm and blues to create his own unique sound, the distinctive pianist and vocalist with the wild voice. Undoubtedly one of the most popular figures in black music.

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, which will give its own view of his songs, is composed of highly talented Dutch jazz musicians and brings to the fore again the big bands. It performs pieces of contemporary Dutch composers, classic creators of jazz (George Gershwin, Duke Ellington), but also participates in large orchestral forms and original music initiatives. Besides numerous concerts in Netherlands, it has toured many European countries, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, China, Japan and the United States.

It has cooperated with many famous artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis, Richard Galliano, Deborah Brown, George Duke and Jessye Norman. This time the American singer Madeline Bell will be with them. Conductor Henk Meutgeert.
