Vinicius Cantuaria grew up in Rio, but he has been living in New York since mid 90's. He started from rock, but he expanded to all aspects of Brazilian culture. He collaborated with artists like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, he played with Chico Buarque.
Since settling down in America he developed a strong relationship with the advanced stage of jazz and contemporary music, member of the New York downtown scene, and cooperated particularly with Bill Frisell and with musicians such as Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson, Brad Mehldau, Arto Lindsay, Marc Ribot, David Byrne, Ryuichi Sakamoto.
From 1983 until today, Vinicius Cantuaria has presented 16 solo albums and participated in albums of other artists as a songwriter or a musician. His music sounds unpredictable and charming, brings to us the sun and sea of Rio, while he entertains always singing and playing ...
